A microneedling facial is a face-focused collagen induction treatment designed to improve the look of skin texture, visible pores, dullness, mild acne-scar texture, fine lines, and overall glow. At NPMD, this service lives under Treatments because it is a professional skin procedure with candidacy screening, sterile technique, and aftercare planning.

This page is intentionally distinct from a basic facial and from more aggressive resurfacing. The goal is gradual skin-quality refinement: smoother texture, healthier-looking radiance, and more even light reflection without pretending one visit can erase every pore, scar, or line.

Best for: Texture, pores, dullness, mild acne-scar texture, glow
Typical visit: 45-75 min

What a Microneedling Facial Can Help Improve

Microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries in the skin surface to support the natural healing response and collagen remodeling. For the face, the treatment is often used when the concern is skin quality rather than facial volume or major laxity.

  • Visible pores and rough or uneven texture
  • Dull skin that does not reflect light evenly
  • Mild acne-scar texture or post-acne surface roughness
  • Early fine lines and general skin quality concerns
  • Patients who want gradual glow and texture refinement with modest downtime

How This Differs From Other Skin Treatments

A microneedling facial is more collagen-focused than a traditional facial, but less intensive than many laser resurfacing treatments. It may be a good option when the goal is gradual refinement rather than a stronger resurfacing recovery.

During consultation, we may compare this service with broader microneedling, Scarlet SRF, Hydrafacial, chemical peels, or fractional CO2 laser resurfacing depending on your texture, pores, sensitivity, downtime, and scar pattern.

What the Consultation Reviews

The consultation helps determine whether microneedling is appropriate for your skin right now and what depth or series plan makes sense. We review skin sensitivity, acne activity, pigment risk, scar depth, current skincare, recent procedures, medications, and whether you can follow aftercare.

  • Texture pattern, pore visibility, acne-scar texture, and skin thickness
  • Active acne, cold sore history, eczema, psoriasis, irritation, or recent flares
  • Current retinoids, acids, exfoliants, acne prescriptions, and recent treatments
  • Skin tone, pigment history, sun exposure, and upcoming events
  • Whether one treatment, a series, or a combination plan is more realistic

What Treatment Usually Looks Like

On treatment day, the skin is cleansed and prepared. A topical numbing step may be used depending on the plan and device settings. The microneedling device is passed over selected facial areas at a depth chosen around your goals, skin response, and tolerance.

After treatment, the skin may look pink or red and feel warm, tight, dry, or sensitive. Mild pinpoint bleeding can happen during treatment, especially at deeper settings. Aftercare focuses on calming the barrier, avoiding unnecessary irritation, and protecting the skin from sun exposure while it recovers.

Recovery and Aftercare

Recovery is usually manageable, but the skin still needs respect. Redness, warmth, tightness, dryness, flaking, and sensitivity are possible for a few days. The skin may feel temporarily rough before it looks smoother.

Aftercare may include gentle cleansing, barrier support, avoiding active ingredients, avoiding rubbing or picking, pausing heat and heavy exercise as directed, and using strict sun protection. We explain when makeup, retinoids, acids, exfoliants, and normal skincare can safely resume.

Results and Series Planning

A fresh glow may be visible after early recovery, but collagen-related texture improvement develops gradually. Many patients benefit from a series spaced several weeks apart, especially when visible pores, acne-scar texture, or fine lines are part of the goal.

If deeper acne scarring, laxity, or more dramatic resurfacing is the main concern, we may discuss CO2 laser acne scar treatment, Scarlet SRF, or a staged combination plan rather than relying on a single microneedling facial.

In my profession, first impressions matter. The chemical peel series I did at NPMD gave me the clear, glowing skin I had been trying to achieve with expensive skincare products for years. My provider was honest about what would work best and the results speak for themselves.

The PRP therapy for my receding hairline has produced noticeable results that I honestly did not expect. After four sessions, my hair is visibly thicker and the thinning areas are filling in. The treatment itself was painless and the staff made me feel completely at ease throughout the process.

I recommend NPMD to all my clients who want to optimize their health beyond what fitness alone can achieve. Their IV therapy helps with recovery, and the hormone optimization program has been fantastic for several of my older clients who were struggling with energy and body composition despite consistent exercise.

Between fundraising stress and constant travel, my body was breaking down. The comprehensive wellness assessment at NPMD revealed multiple nutrient deficiencies and cortisol imbalances. Their integrated approach — IV therapy, sleep optimization, and targeted supplements — helped me recover my baseline in about two months. Essential investment in my health.
